od has given us many gifts; and of all the gifts we have been given, freewill and its expression, the power of choice, are the greatest. Even the gift of love, which is of paramount importance for humankind, is secondary since it cannot be activated until we choose to turn it loose. By giving us freewill, God enables us to create our own destiny.

The circumstances into which we are born are a result of choices we made in previous lives. Whether our present life is enjoyable or not depends upon the choices we make. We can, with any given origin in life, progress to the highest pinnacle of human endeavor or regress to one lower than that with which we began. With our choices, we can terminate the need to fulfill most karmic obligations or create new ones for ourselves.

When we understand that God is a God of love, our most sincere desire will be to establish a new relationship with God. Our major priority will be choosing to rid ourselves of our Illusion of Self so a new God relationship can be established. Until we choose to return to God, our choices support and glorify our ego, and we continue living a limited and negative spiritual life. By use of subterfuge, our ego persuades us to make choices that continue to sustain it, but also keep us imprisoned in ego.

We fear and have difficulty in making choices that bring about change, even if we are aware at some level that we do not want to be in the situation and circumstances we are in. Such choices may be difficult because they counter or upset the power and control our ego is enjoying. Our ego ultimately employs fear to manipulate us into making choices that will enhance its position. Our ego is ever-vigilant and tenaciously combats those choices that threaten its existence.

To combat our ego requires belief, or the certainty of God, and not faith in God. Belief is a one hundred percent commitment to God. In our Illusion of Self, we may have faith, but it is not a strong enough commitment to God to implement our freedom. It is easier to make choices when we have conquered our self-illusion and are one with God, for we will know that the choices we make are appropriate and accurate.

God's blessings surround us and are available to each of us even when we are in an anti-God state and blame God for all difficulties. Everything that exists is a blessing from God unless we use it unwisely or energize it with our negativity. We will become aware of the extent and variety of God's blessings and choose wisely among them for pleasure and well-being when we live as positive spiritual beings.

The choice we have to make is similar to the one God made, but God is giving us a chance to make it or not. God chose to rebel from the void and chose to remain in a state of being, because, it was better than the barren void. God chose to accept responsibility for rebelling, and then chose to meditate to conquer the negativity created by the rebellion. We rebelled from God, and God desires that we choose to return to God because in a rebel state, we are ultimately a threat to all existence. When we choose to return to God, we acknowledge responsibility for our rebellion and our threat to God's creation. Our journey back to God begins when we choose to adopt the four commandments. We are expected to accept God's judgment that existence is better than non-existence, and that existence is infinitely better with than without God. God believes that we will eventually use our power of choice to stop blaming God, and accept our responsibility for the difficulties on our earth plane. Giving us the power of choice to accomplish this is another indication of God's wisdom, kindness, understanding and love for us.
